Our Businesses

It takes guts to start a business, guts to stay the course and guts to put yourself in a programme like Creative HQ.

This is not a passing commitment. Its a partnership, and if everything goes to plan a partnership that will create wealth, jobs and success.

Over the coming year we aim to incubate around 30 businesses to achieve fast sustained growth into markets that will turn them into leading earners from Wellington, to New Zealand and across the world.

These targets aren't "pie in the sky". We think carefully about the businesses and entrepreneurs we work with and how we will successfully deliver to help drive their growth.

We rigorously assess businesses prior to them being accepted into Creative HQ. This is a huge investment for us - financially and emotionally.

Our current businesses represent those that we believe are worth the investment. There are several others not shown here that are working on other milestones prior to coming in or are in the assessment process.

Our alumni businesses are growing by 40% per annum. In the 2010-11 financial year their combined economic value generated was more than $59m.

Commercialising research takes time, money and effort, and Creative HQ has several science ventures under development with its partner institutions - shaping and proving science into a marketable product.
